Hello, Readers!
Welcome to my blog! Politics can be an incredibly decisive and challenging topic for many individuals, and they may choose to stay away from politics due to these reasons. Many people avert themselves away from politics due to either personal reasons or simply indifference, and social media is a large facilitator that has the ability to streamline political discourse and influence how people perceive politics. Social media is an integral component in many people's routines, and I believe that this factor has both advantages and disadvantages when it comes to how people consume information. It has become a breeding ground for profit and propaganda instead of a forum for objective and honest media.
The theme of my blog is to “Buckle Up” and have tough conversations about the role that social media plays in our daily lives. If social media fails at properly facilitating political conversations and creating an environment where people can openly share their opinions, people will be left at a disadvantage, and this quality will continue to reinforce cycles where people feel alienated from politics and choose to not prioritize learning about what is occurring in our government. It is incredibly important that people engage in political conversations so that they can make informed decisions when voting, effectively advocate for issues they believe in, and find community with people who share similar viewpoints.
I understand that sharing political viewpoints can be incredibly vulnerable and frustrating, but I want to encourage open, truthful and respectful communication. On this blog, I will actively aim to share my thoughts and dive into politics in an unbiased and objective manner. With that being said, "Buckle Up" and share your own thoughts!
